Raymarine Warsash Spring Series – Take 3!
After a weekend off courtesy of the blizzard which took over the Solent last weekend, an additional race was scheduled for this weekend. With boat numbers up, there were clearly a couple of boats out dusting off the cobwebs before the first of the spring championship weekends next weekend.
Following a nasty rain squall just before the start of the first race, the wind seriously dropped off just before the first race however this did not deter Ian Southworth in Chilli Chaser taking an early lead followed by Craig Burlton’s Team Touareg and Matt Davies helming Impact Promotions.
The start of the second race saw a large number of boats over the line on the first start so PRO: Peter Knight dusted off the black flag to encourage better behavior for the second attempt. After a clean start ChilliChaser took the lead closely followed by Palava helmed by Sarah Allen this week and David Cummins’ Rumbleflurg.
Yet again the middle of the fleet saw some appalling lack of adherence to the rules in particular at mark rounding and with lots of boats entered for the spring championships next weekend it would be opportune to brush up on the rules this week!!! The breeze picked up for the third race and Chilli Chaser delivered the third bullet of the day followed by Team Touareg and Mark Rushall in Risk Premium.
Looking forward to seeing you again and more on the water for the Spring Championships – if you’ve not already entered, get in touch with Warsash Sailing Club – PRONTO!!!
