Press Release: Laser Sportsboat gets ISAF Status
Performance Sailcraft (Europe) Ltd and the Laser SB3 World Council are delighted to announce the sportsboat has been given the status of an ISAF recognised class.
The manufacturer have produced over 400 boats, and the SB3 is now established in 7 countries, including, Dubai, Singapore, Italy and Portugal. With the acquisition of Vanguard Sailboats, the SB3 is now being launched across North America.
In 2008 the class with hold its inaugural World Championships will be held in Dublin, from September 22-26 at the National Yacht Club. Tim Bourke, Laser SB3 Ireland Chairman, comments “From a standing start in 2006 the SB3 is now Ireland’s most successful keelboat class ever. Hosting the inaugural World Championships for up to 120 boats in 2008 will be the highlight of this adventure for the class. The Dublin event should be a pretty good party too!!”
Daniel Geoghegan, Laser SB3 Class World Council President, who attended the conference in Portugal commented that, “The acceptance of the Laser SB3 by ISAF in such a short period since inception show’s the success of the class. The growth of the fleet internationally and with big names in the world of sailing competing in the boats regularly demonstrates the appeal of the boat in the one design concept”.
